Why are executors necessary?
by David M. Israel
Someone needs to be appointed to act on the testator’s
behalf after his death; someone that can make informed decisions
and sign documents necessary to give effect to the terms
of the testator’s will. It is perfectly satisfactory
to have only one executor in charge of distributing the testator’s
estate. It may be better, however, to name two executors
in case one executor dies before the testator does or becomes
incapable of acting as an executor.
